Professional Background

I'm Justin, a Civil CAD Drafter and FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot with 8 years of background building complex design systems and technical documentation. My experience evolved from graphic design into UI/UX architecture, and is now focused on civil drafting and site design. I specialize in bridging field-captured survey and aerial drone data with production-ready Civil 3D models.

Core Focus & Approach
  • Precision & Standards: CAD layer discipline, clean alignments, and rigorous QA/QC.

  • Reality Capture: Converting drone photogrammetry and point clouds to Civil 3D.

Product Design

Prior to Civil Design, I spent years in tech as a UX Designer. Explore a recent AI project here.

Education and Certifications
  • A.S. Engineering Design Technology: Utah Valley University (In Progress)

  • FAA Part 107 Pilot: Licensed for aerial survey and drone photogrammetry.

Outside of work I enjoy playing and recording music, check it out here.

Professional Experience
Eight years of enterprise design systems experience, now applying rigorous technical standards to civil drafting and structural modeling.

Senior UX/UI Designer, Provenance Chain Network (August 2024 - May 2026)

  • Lead designer for an enterprise supply chain verification platform built on React, TypeScript, MUI v5, Three.js, and D3-force; sole designer across all primary product surfaces, owning design end-to-end from discovery through engineering handoff.

  • Owned design across 8+ major product surfaces, including network graph visualization, evaluations workflow, claims creation, selective-disclosure agreements, registration, data parsing, and AI partner integration

  • Designed a multi-persona demo environment (5 personas across 3 organizations) modeling a semiconductor supply chain workflow for an enterprise demo targeting the microelectronics industry (Cadence).

  • Led migration of the network graph from SVG to a Three.js WebGL canvas, designing the interaction model, radial menu system, and edge differentiation for selective-disclosure agreements.

  • Designed a Kanban-based evaluations workflow (Not Started / In Progress / Completed) and a 3-step claims creation flow, both shipped as primary user flows in the product.

  • Established and maintained the platform's design system in MUI: standardized typography scale, component conventions, and a single source of truth for tokens, eliminating ad-hoc color and component decisions across the codebase.

  • Sole designer embedded with 3 product managers and 3–5 engineers (onshore and offshore); drive design reviews, contribute to architecture decisions, and own engineering hand-off across the platform.

Associate UX/UI Designer, Nerd United (May 2022 - June 2024)

  • Lead designer on Web3 and crypto features for the Nerd Core platform at a 50–200 person company,

including shopping front-end, wallet setup, and token bridging flows.

  • Migrated the team's design system from Adobe XD to Figma, rebuilding components and establishing a token-based architecture using MUI and Atomic Design principles.

  • Conducted user research and usability testing on wallet and bridging flows to identify friction points and inform iteration.

  • Collaborated daily with a design team of 2–5 (under a UX product director) and an engineering team of 5–20 across the platform.

  • Reviewed work and provided feedback to a junior designer during group critique sessions, supporting her early growth on the team.

Associate UX/UI Designer, Clever Coding (October 2020 - May 2022)

  • Designed 26+ mobile and web applications for 22+ clients at a startup mobile app agency, owning design from wireframe through high-fidelity prototype.

  • Created branding style guides and component libraries for client products, ensuring consistency across marketing and product surfaces.

  • Produced interactive prototypes and UI animations to communicate intent to clients and engineers, accelerating sign-off and reducing rework.

  • Designed for clients across health and wellness, recovery and cannabis, outdoor recreation, real estate, construction, and gaming. Built fluency in adapting design language to vastly different brands and audiences.

Associate Graphic Designer, Young Living (March 2020 - October 2020)

  • Designed 100+ product labels for global markets, coordinating with international representatives on translations and regulatory compliance.

  • Developed packaging concepts for essential oils and personal care products in collaboration with marketing.

Associate Graphic Designer, ConexED (June 2019 - December 2019)

  • Designed marketing materials and contributed to UX/UI improvements on the company website, a virtual student services platform serving higher-education institutions and student-facing EdTech workflows.

  • Produced collateral in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop; supported WordPress site updates and content flow.
